Mike’s Field in Rural Alberta

This painting is based off of a cloudy photo I took of a rural field not far from Mundare, Alberta. “Mike” was a neighbour of my Grandparents that farmed this field for many years, but eventually retired and rented the land out to my family. The Grandparents eventually purchased the land when he passed. Because Mike’s family had lived on the land once upon a time, there are trees in various spots where fields typically do not have them; it was a personal property first and a field second. This leads to some beautiful landscape compositions as there is woodlots teaming with life in and amongst the agriculture going on around it. Although this piece is quite abstract, I hope I did the photo justice.
